The Transportation Department looks after the transportation needs of the entire city of Boston.

Looking after the transportation of this historic city is an uphill and challenging task.

The streets of the historic city of Boston are crushed under the burden of a sea of traffic. The need for ample parking space for these vehicles far exceeds the supply.

The Boston Transportation Department is responsible for regulating traffic and parking on local streets in the City of Boston and it accomplishes this task through a combination of planning, engineering and enforcement measures.

The Department also implements and enforces curbside parking regulations, and collects and adjudicates the fines and fees resulting from parking tickets and tows.
