Boston Early Music Festival showcases the rich history of music. It brings to life the music of days of yore in all its sublime grandeur. A reputed leader in the field of Early Music, it has hosted many musical shows. By Early music we mean music as it was played in the past.

BEMF has promoted early music through biennial Festivals featuring newly revived baroque operatic masterpieces, concerts by the world's leading soloists and ensembles, scholarly symposia, performance master classes and fringe concerts by emerging artists. The biennial Festival & Exhibition continue to be the heart of the Boston Early Music Festival.

It also produces an annual concert which serves to meet the growing demand for performances. A world famous exhibition is the hub of activity within the festival. Students, amateur, professional musicians, and enthusiasts alike visit the dozens of craftspeople to test instruments, purchase scores, CDs, books, and related accessories, and meet or reacquaint themselves with the field's leading professionals.
