One of the premier theatres in the city, it was established in 1982, and has since grown in stature. It has been covered with laurels having won many coveted awards for staging electrifying performances. The theatre has hosted many world premiers as well as several critically acclaimed plays.
It conducts training for university students. There are even educational programs for middle and high school children. Most impressive though, are its efforts to bring theatre to the deaf and blind as well as the elderly. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Nicholas Martin and Managing Director Michael Maso, Huntington Theatre Company is Boston's leading professional theatre.
Throughout its illustrious history, it has staged a wide variety of contemporary classic plays as well as musicals. Over the years it has attracted more and more audiences which have swelled to 1, 75000 including 17,500 subscriber.
