Avalon is a gala venue for hosting multipurpose entertainment. This old building has served many masters.
Located at 15 Lansdowne down street, it was initially used to deliver carriages, horses and truck. In 1969 it made its debut in entertainment and even hosted the famous Boston Tea Party. With the rise of disco, it once again changed hands and was converted into a discotheque. Since 1992, it has been called Avalon. In 1999, it was renovated completely. It regularly hosts the world's greatest DJs as well as popular rock artists. The club can now accommodate 2,000 people in four different rooms. Live shows take place on a spacious stage.
Theme nights include International Thursday, featuring Greek and Latin music; Locomotion Saturday; and Sunday Gay Night. The Avalon's house DJs provide the beats when the music is not live.
Avalon is a lavish centre for entertainment. Its dance club has a superb earth shaking sound system, state- of- the- art light display and bikini clad dancers who make you go wild. Cover charges can top for dance nights and much higher for certain rock acts who crank up their guitars on this hallowed stage from time to time.
