Union Oyster House is the oldest restaurant in the US which is still functioning. Its origin can be traced to 1826 and since then it has admirably stood the ravages of time and come out triumphant.

The décor harks back to days of yore. Weathered wood and a casual atmosphere give it an old fashioned 1800 style décor.

The building itself is more than 250 years old and has many tales to narrate. President John F Kennedy had a favorite booth in this joint while he was practicing law in the beginning of his illustrious career. His booth is called Kennedy booth. Daniel Webster fell in love with its Oysters.

It's a popular joint and still manages to hold its own, despite several upscale joints like Kingfish Hall coming up in the vicinity. The highlight of the menu in this landmark restaurant is its seafood. Its Oysters are out of the world. You can tuck in on Lazy Man's lobster (served en casserole with seasoned bread crumbs, sherry and drawn butter) and baked stuffed filet of sole (its innards brimming with ricotta and spinach). The raw bar serves delightful Bloody Marys.

Many old timers frequent this bar, drink raw liquor and grow nostalgic as they recall old times.
