It is Harvard's oldest art museum whose origin can be traced back to 1895. It is a virtual paradise for art lovers, showcasing the best masterpieces of European art.
It delves into history and captures the brilliant spirit of Italian renaissance, which witnessed the flowering of art the like of which the world has never seen. In its stunning Italian renaissance courtyard, based on a sixteenth- century façade in Montepulciano Italy, are galleries illustrating the history of Western art from the Middle Ages to contemporary times.
Picasso's genius looks down on you. It features the work of Gian Lorenzo Bernini one of the greatest sculptors of the Roman Baroque. His sculptures startle you with their life like appearance. Harvard University Art Museums' Maurice Wertheim Collection contains important Impressionist and Post- Impressionist paintings, sculptures and drawings which have historical significance.
The Fogg also houses the Straus Center for Conservation, the oldest research center in the United States for scientific study of works of art.
Hours: Mon- Sat 10am- 5pm, Sun 1pm- 5pm.
